Quilt Jacket, Antique Basket
Beautifully antique quilt made into a jacket. This quilt was found unfinished, butter soft with age, the threads and basting stitches kept in tact to preserve the craft originally sewn into the quilt.
Some of the cream fabrics have a print on the back side, possibly originally grain or flour sack fabrics. The threads constructing this quilt were not always fabric-matching, and so here and there are visible through the top fabrics.
The antique quality of this jacket brings a timeless character to the piece. It is not a new and perfect look, but an aged, vintage heirloom of wearable art.
This jacket is lined in in a vintage, never used fabric that is no longer in print. There are two hidden interior pockets as well as two pockets at the side seams. Closure is a beautiful new gold and cream zipper. Collar can be stood up or down.
It is a one of a kind treasure.
